Since the surgery was started in 2003 Blackdown Equine Vets has always sought to provide high quality health care for the horses of South Devon. From it’s humble roots as a one vet practice the surgery has flourished over the years to become the modern, four vet team that we are today. Despite having grown and providing cutting edge treatments, with the latest diagnostic aids, we have still retained a personal, empathetic service.
Our wide ranging skills and interests allow us to provide a comprehensive range of services to all our clients. Our clients range from international show jumpers, dressage riders, racehorses and endurance riders right through to companion ponies and donkeys. We believe every horse deserves the same level of care and attention whether they’re representing their nation or just helping to keep the lawn down. Our experience and skills enable us to provide a range of treatment options allowing you to decide what is best for your own circumstances.
We are extremely excited to be building a brand new equine hospital in South Brent, to allow us to further expand the services we offer across our special interests which include lameness, sports medicine, reproduction, internal medicine, colic and dentistry. Our vision is to become the South West’s leading equine practice for both our regular clients and referral cases while continuing to provide exceptional care with a personal service.
Our vets are equipped with the latest, portable, diagnostic equipment to allow us to offer a wide range of services at your yard or stables on either a first or second opinion basis. As a practice we are constantly striving to improve our knowledge and skills. All our vets are members of the British Equine Veterinary Association and undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) regularly to stay at the cutting edge of the profession.
